Bed 3
Autumn Winter 2009
This is our root crop bed. This season it contains
- Garlic – Italian white and Long-neck purple
- Carrots
- Onions – white
Also growing at the back of the bed is a late cucumber. I have found with the rotation method of gardening it can be quite difficult to rotate to the next bed all at the same time. Some plants are only just beginning to producing a crop, but it will be time to begin planting the next rotation. In this case I am leaving plants in the beds until they have finished cropping or frosts kill them. The cucumber above is beginning to succumb to the dropping temperature. It is a Mid-eastern Prolific (available at Greenharvest)

we planted a black english mulberry tree in January – it is so small – less than a meter high but I love dreaming of what it will be like when it is fully grown and the chooks can roam happily under them. Where are your girls? I’ll have to go look for pics of them.
